From the Winston-Salem Journal:
Energy-efficient townhomes and 50 proposed apartments are the next steps toward Goler Community Development Corp.’s goal of revitalizing 15 acres near Patterson Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
Goler CDC has focused for more than 10 years on creating a mix of housing, small businesses, retail, entertainment and community uses that would build upon the historic Goler-Depot neighborhood now called Goler Heights…
Other finished projects within the 15 acres are The Gallery Lofts, Community Arts Park, Goler Manor, Truliant Victory Member Financial Center and the Craver Building.
“Our concept has always been mixed-income,” Suggs said. “The way that we do it is by having people that make a lot of money living next door to people who maybe don’t make a lot of money.”
For example, The Gallery Lofts project has 82 luxury apartments at Sixth and Chestnut streets that were co-developed with Landex Corp. in Linthicum, Md. Nearby Goler Manor is 79 one-bedroom apartments for seniors. The Craver Building, at Seventh and Chestnut streets, has two three-bedroom flats. All of the buildings are fully occupied.
