Two Apartment Communities Proposed in Davidson County

Two new apartment complexes have been approved for construction off of Forest Hill Road near the U.S. Highway 64 interchange. One complex will house 88 multi-bedroom apartments, and the other will have 56 new units.

Mark Morgan with FGM Development, LLC received a major zoning permit from the City of Lexington to construct an 88-unit apartment complex on 11 acres off of Forest Hill Road adjacent to U.S. Highway 64 West. The project will consist of nine two- and three-story apartment buildings and a separate building for office space. There will be two-, three- and four-bedroom energy efficient units available upon completion.

“It’s a good corridor for development,” Morgan said. “With the access to Highway 52 and the proximity of Childress Vineyards, there is definitely growth potential in that area.”…

Tom Honeycutt of Southern Properties & Development, LLC received a major zoning permit to construct an 56-unit apartment complex on 4.67 acres off of Forest Hill Road. The project will consist of four two-story apartment buildings with one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments available. The proximity to U.S. Highway 52 makes this location ideal to attract new Lexington residents who may work in Winston-Salem, he said…

Honeycutt said that even though other apartments are being built basically across the road, the Forest Hill area should be able to support both complexes. “When we did our marketing research the report said there was a substantial need for housing in that area. It should be able to bear the addition of 144 new units.”
